- If you find Rap difficult to understand click HERE for some knowledge droppin. {Em}
- I was disheartened to find out last night that Michael Franti's song "Yell Fire" was used in a commercial for Dennis Leary's FX show Rescue Me. This is why I don't have cable.

Come support my man Malcolm as he drops his hip hoppin new album with a backing live band at Nuyorican Cafe 3/27!!
Obviously I'm biased, but I am admittedly wet in the pants to see this album's sick production translated to instrumentals.

It's real wack that all of the videos uploaded by Universal Music Group are disabled for embedding. As usual, behind the times with technology. If you let people embed them, then more people will watch them, and just maybe buy some music.......
This Nice and Smooth classic is disabled from embedding
But the Tracy Chapman original isn't:

Sometimes you can search for an old video on youtube and suddenly find yourself 30 minutes later down memory lane finding a whole bunch of videos!
Original Flavor feat. a young Jay-Z killin it!
I Love the Artifacts!!!!!
Absolute classic by Organized Konfusion (Pharoahe Monch's group for those that don't know)
Another old Jay-z video from 94.

In unrelated news from the LA Times:
Run-DMC, Metallica and Jeff Beck are among the artists who will be inducted into Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. Run-DMC is only the second rap act so honored, following the induction of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in 2007.

This is a picture of the new basement space at Botanica, where I'll be spinning with Prof. Rockwell this Saturday. This doesn't show the whole space and its definitely one the best spaces for dancing and DJs in the Red Hook and Carroll Gardens area.
Come check it out!

Brooklyn Botanica Presents...
DJ Knomad and Prof. Rockwell
Saturday, January 10th, 10-pm-close
Botanica in Red Hook, BK (not to be confused with Botanica in Manhattan) just recently opened its basement dance space, and we are going to take it over with good music and vibes all night! Unfortunately there aren't any pictures of the basement that i can find online, so the picture above is of the beautiful upstairs bar (which some describe as Gatsby-like or a flashback to the 1930s).
Prof. Rockwell and I will be playing a mix of music that we personally love, ranging from the obscure, to the well known, to guilty pleasures. The only defining quality among it all is that the songs have to make you dance.
Funk, disco, soul, hip hop, house, reggae, 80s, 90s, and more are all fair game.
And don't be afraid, Red Hook isnt' as hard to get to as everyone makes it seem! Water taxis, buses, subways, and Ikea shuttles make it easier than ever to get to.
Make a day out of it and enjoy local shops, restauarants, and more......
Location: 220 Conover St. (@ Coffey St) in Red Hook, Brooklyn
