Botanica in Red Hook, BK (not to be confused with Botanica in Manhattan) just recently opened its basement dance space, and we are going to take it over with good music and vibes all night! Unfortunately there aren't any pictures of the basement that i can find online, so the picture above is of the beautiful upstairs bar (which some describe as Gatsby-like or a flashback to the 1930s).
Prof. Rockwell and I will be playing a mix of music that we personally love, ranging from the obscure, to the well known, to guilty pleasures. The only defining quality among it all is that the songs have to make you dance.
Funk, disco, soul, hip hop, house, reggae, 80s, 90s, and more are all fair game.
And don't be afraid, Red Hook isnt' as hard to get to as everyone makes it seem! Water taxis, buses, subways, and Ikea shuttles make it easier than ever to get to.
Make a day out of it and enjoy local shops, restauarants, and more......

Freeway might just be the change we need
I love Freeway, and I think his recent plan to release a free track online everyday for the entire month of December is brilliant. I hope he really does it right and drops a quality track every day. If done right, this could really set the stage for the whole industry to step up and produce some good music and be more in touch with the fans who listen to it.

The new project comes one year after the release of his critically acclaimed sophomore album Free At Last, which was executive produced by Jay-Z and 50 Cent. Christening the 31 song blitz “The Freeway Change,” the rapper aims to counteract a Hip-Hop culture he feels has “become more dependent on sales, marketing and imaging, rather than the quality and value of the music itself.” Still, Freeway remains optimistic that his move will set a precedent among other artists to bypass the corporate red tape of major labels to put their art unaltered directly in the hands of the people. During the month, Freeway will pay close attention to fan feedback and adjust his content accordingly. John Forte, Rock the Mic This Way...........
Bush finally does something for black people.
In 2000 John was arrested at Newark Airport with a suit case filled with 31 pounds of LIQUID coke worth $1.4 million. He has been serving his 14 year sentence in a Pennsylvanian jail when on this past Monday, Bush issued a rare slew of pardons naming Forte as one of the lucky few.
Apparently Forte had the famous singer-songwriter Carly Simon lobbying on his behalf as her son attended the elite prep school Philips Exeter in New Hampshire with John.
