This is a picture of the new basement space at Botanica, where I'll be spinning with Prof. Rockwell this Saturday. This doesn't show the whole space and its definitely one the best spaces for dancing and DJs in the Red Hook and Carroll Gardens area.
Come check it out!

Brooklyn Botanica Presents...
DJ Knomad and Prof. Rockwell
Saturday, January 10th, 10-pm-close
Botanica in Red Hook, BK (not to be confused with Botanica in Manhattan) just recently opened its basement dance space, and we are going to take it over with good music and vibes all night! Unfortunately there aren't any pictures of the basement that i can find online, so the picture above is of the beautiful upstairs bar (which some describe as Gatsby-like or a flashback to the 1930s).
Prof. Rockwell and I will be playing a mix of music that we personally love, ranging from the obscure, to the well known, to guilty pleasures. The only defining quality among it all is that the songs have to make you dance.
Funk, disco, soul, hip hop, house, reggae, 80s, 90s, and more are all fair game.
And don't be afraid, Red Hook isnt' as hard to get to as everyone makes it seem! Water taxis, buses, subways, and Ikea shuttles make it easier than ever to get to.
Make a day out of it and enjoy local shops, restauarants, and more......
Location: 220 Conover St. (@ Coffey St) in Red Hook, Brooklyn

Tomorrow Night! A chance to have fun, while giving something to those in need.
Come out and hear the Seamless DJ's (Teenwolf, Elsewhere, Knomad) drop their usual eclecting blend of dancefloor inducing madness.
Free to get in, but donation of non-perishable food for City Harvest is recommended.
Sala is at 344 Bowery. We'll be in the downstairs lounge.
Hope to see you there.
Is pole dancing allowed on the Festivus Poles? I don't see why not.

We just wanted to thank everyone who came out and supported Obama at Gallery Bar last Thursday.
WE RAISED ALMOST $10,000 FOR THE CAMPAIGN!!!!
It surpassed our own goals by a mile!!!!!!! And a special thanks to the DJs and Musicians as well as the other organizations and people like you and me that helped out. And now for even more encouraging news.....
WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. soldiers have donated more presidential campaign money to Democrat Barack Obama than to Republican John McCain, a reversal of previous campaigns in which military donations tended to favor GOP White House hopefuls, a nonpartisan group reported Thursday.
Troops serving abroad have given nearly six times as much money to Obama's presidential campaign as they have to McCain's, the Center for Responsive Politics said.
The results also are striking because they favored Obama, who never has served in the military. McCain meanwhile, is a decorated war veteran who spent nearly five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. The Arizona senator graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and had a 22-year career as a naval aviator.
Obama has opposed the war in Iraq and says he would withdraw combat troops within 16 months. McCain has been a steadfast supporter of the war, saying he would withdraw the troops only when conditions on the ground warrant it.
"Obama will work tirelessly to uphold this nation's sacred trust with its veterans, to ensure they are not forgotten after they return home and he will provide our troops with the leadership they deserve, as well as the support they and their families need," Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro said.
McCain's campaign played down the significance of the donations.
"John McCain has been endorsed by more retired admirals and generals than Barack Obama has military donors," McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb said in a statement.
"We feel confident that many U.S. troops stationed overseas will support John McCain in the election this fall, but we suspect most are too busy doing the important work of defending this country than to make political contributions," Goldfarb said.
Among soldiers serving overseas at the time of their donations, 134 gave a total of $60,642 to Obama while 26 gave a total of $10,665 to McCain.
The report tracked donations of $200 or more. It found that 859 members of the military donated a total of $335,536 to Obama. McCain received $280,513 from 558 military donors.

While the NYTimes reported last week that the Obama campaign was straining to reach its money goals, Time reports today that August was a record smashing month.
Don't let that misguide you into thinking that everything is going to be ok though. We need to all work together to make sure that September is even better than August, not just in terms of fundraising, but also in terms of spreading the word, making phone calls, forwarding emails, and doing whatever else it takes to get Obama in the White House.
Over the next several days and weeks, seriously make an effort to squeeze some of these actions into your daily routine and use whatever mediums you have at your disposal to do so. At 432, our medium is music and parties. We manage to bring large groups of people together 1-2 times a month, so why not do it as part of something larger than this local party scene? That's what we're doing on 9/25, and we hope to help Barack smash yet another record for the month of September.

So i've done something i never really thought i would do - decide to go back to school. I'll be starting a Masters program this September, which means that this month's Seamless will literally be a back to school party.
All that aside, Seamless is sure to be the same sweaty dancefloor fun as usual this month, as Teenwolf, Elsewhere, and I play a mix of eclectically danceable music.

I didn't get as many (good) pictures as usual this time - but maybe i was too busy djing and dancing to remember to take pictures. This past Saturday was fun as always, especially when the Ninjasonik dudes came through late night about 30 deep and took the party over:

Its that time again - we're coming back at you with another installment of Seamless. Expect to hear a wide variety of music, tied together with the common element of danceability.
Teenwolf will be fresh off of performing at Rock the Bells with his group Ninjasonik, so be sure to come through to congratulate him on that and check him out on a more intimate party setting.
Also, check out the event's going page
and if you've never been, check out pictures from last month

Wow,
Its been forever since i've recorded a mix. I really need to do this more often. Anyway, I did this in honor of the new party we have coming up at Belmont Lounge called The Rhythm.
I'm pretty excited about this party for a couple of reasons. For one thing, its at a bar i used to frequent quite a bit - a really nice spot near Union Square. For another thing, the idea for this party is to play all types of dance music, including disco, house, and more recent dance styles by the likes of Cut Copy, Chromeo, DFA artists, etc. This is a departure from my usual hip hop, reggae, r&b parties and sets, so come out and try something new.
This mix contains all time disco and house classics as well as some recent stuff i've been feeling and some other random stuff thrown in. Track list below:
Donald Byrd and 125th Street Band - Love Has Come Around
Rockers Revenge - Sunshine (Greg Wilson Edit)
Frankie Knuckles feat Rebe Jones - You Got the Love
Hercules & Love Affair - Blind (Frankie Knuckles Remix)
Cut Copy - Hearts of Fire (Holy Ghost Remix)
Francois K - Time and Space
Ralphi Rosario - You Used To Hold Me
Sagat - Fuk Dat
Cajmere - Let Me Be
Earth People - Dance
Recloose and Joe Dukie - Dust
Masters at Work feat. India - I Can't Get No Sleep
Arrested Development - Tennessee (Kenny Dope Remix)
Barbara Tucker feat. Darryl D'Bonneau- Stop Playing With My Mind
Dajae - Everyday My Life (Junior Jack Mix)
Patrice Rushen - Haven't You Heard
Jay-Z - Party Life (The Knocks Remix)
Jay-Z - A Million and One Questions (DJ Technics Remix)
Pase Rock - Get Money Kids
Lenny Kravitz - Breathe (Chromeo Remix)
MGMT - Electric Feel (Teenwolf's Extra Electric Mix)

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday. The whole place was packed - indoors and out - for a very good portion of the night and there was plenty of dancing, drinking, and general good times. Also thanks to Kinetic for coming through and murdering an all vinyl set.

Even though there will be some relief from this heatwave by Saturday, we'll still be keeping things hot at Seamless with:
- Free BBQ from 9pm until supplies run out
- Extended Happy Hour through 10pm, including $3 drafts
- Teenwolf, Elsewhere, and Knomad on the mix until we get shut down

Well, its Monday morning and i'm going on about 10-12 hours of sleep for the entire weekend combined. Other than that, I had a good time and want to say thanks to everyone for coming out to the parties I was playing at - especially Sala this past Friday.
I managed to take a few pictures the other night, so i'll try to get some of them uploaded soon.
Also, big thanks to Brainchild for coming down and guest spinning with me. For those that liked his style, check him out on his new internet radio show called Gordon Gatrell radio that he's doing with Phonte from the group Little Brother. Its bound to be a nice mix of good music and funny banter:
Gordon Gartrell Radio
Up next in the wacky world of DJing, i'll be playing at a High School Prom this week. Then next week, it will be already time for Seamless again!

sa·la: [sah-luh]- noun - large hall, living room, or reception room.
When you were younger, did you ever play your favorite songs of the time and put on a little dance show for your family in your living room? Songs that are played in moments like these often become our guilty pleasures in the future, and you're bound to hear some of them on occasion at 432 parties - since what we're ultimately about is making people feel good and dance.
Living rooms also make me think of house parties. You know, those times where you see your couches and chairs pushed up against the walls to make room for your friends and their friends and their friends' friends to dance and mingle. 432 parties are sort of like that too, since what we started with was hosting parties in bars for our friends and watched as everyone started inviting their friends, and our network just grew and grew.
This is why having our newest party in the basement of a place called Sala is perfect for us. You're meant to come out, feel at home, bring family and friends, and let loose to the music. The only difference this time, at least compared to my house, is that there will also be plenty of Sangria and Spanish decor.
PS - if you're looking for a place to eat that night, Sala's upstairs is a Tapas restaurant. Check out the review at New York Magazine.

Looks like the temp will be in the high 70s on Friday, which is the perfect Temperature for a party we have decided to call Summer Vacation kickoff. We'll be in the downstairs lounge all night playing feel good music. Come shake off the winter and rainy spring weather blues........

Well, what can I say. Another successful installment of Seamless. Despite the absence of Elsewhere and most of Varghese's crew (big thanks to those that came out even though V wasn't there), K-ross and I still managed to turn up the heat and keep rumps shaking until 4am. With that level of energy at that time of night, its always so hard to hear the security guards telling us to shut down the music.
Here are a few picture highlights. More can be seen here.
See you next month.
